Position: Senior Advisor: Municipal Sustainability

Location: Eastern Cape (East London)

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

▪ A Post Graduate qualification at Hons level (Environmental Management, Disaster Management, Fire Services,
and related disciplines)
▪ Knowledge of government policies and legislation and related practices in Environmental Management, Disaster
Management, Fire & Emergency Services
▪ Active registration with the relevant professional bodies
▪ At least 6 years’ experience in local government sector, specifically in the fields of Environmental Management,
Disaster Management, Fire Emergency Services, and related disciplines, of which three years must be at managerial
level
▪ A Valid Code 08 drivers’ license and own vehicle;

KEY PORTFOLIO AND PERFORMANCE FOCUS AREAS:

Attend and represent local government at relevant provincial
IGR forums as well as any other lobbying and advocacy platforms.

Develop content on relevant issues to inform SALGA lobby
and advocacy positions in the province.

Support the tracing of implementation of decisions and development of reports to the relevant SALGA governance structures in the province.

Understand the network of provincial institutional structures and
key role players in the delivery of Environmental Management, Disaster Management, and Fire Emergency Services.

Position: Finance and Asset Management Officer

Location: Western Cape (Cape Town)

Closing date: 15 April 2025

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Relevant degree in Finance / Asset Management / Purchasing Management or equivalent qualification
■ Be an all-rounder, be versatile and able to perform certain basic Human Capital responsibilities
■ A Valid drivers’ license will be an added advantage as travel could be required
■ Ability to maintain high-level of accuracy and confidentiality
■ 3 years’ relevant working experience
■Knowledge of local government sector, ability to interpret Financial Statements and generate reports
■Experience in Finance / Supply Chain Management
■Knowledge of Basic Bookkeeping

KEY PORTFOLIO AND PERFORMANCE FOCUS AREAS:

▪Fixed Asset Register: Update and maintain Provincial Fixed Asset Register for incorporation into the Corporate Register Master database
▪Asset Control: Conduct Fixed Asset Inventory counts; periodic physical inspection of fixed assets, reviewing the results, conducting
necessarily follow up and adjustments. Control and safeguard SALGA’s assets including leased assets and fixed assets register.
▪Asset Accounting: Evaluate all new capital requests and disposal; Record newly acquired fixed assets and affix asset numbers. Identify
assets for disposals and coordinate the process per policy
