Position: Project Manager

Campus: Doornfontein Campus

Minimum requirements:
  • At least a Bachelor’s degree (NQF 7) in project management, marketing, business administration, or a related field.
  • Preferably a project management certification.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a fundraising environment.
  • At least 3 years of project management experience.
  • Preferably experience in fundraising and development initiatives.
Responsibilities:
  • Implement an organisational fundraising strategy within the overall UJ strategic plan.
  • Oversee the fundraising governance and fundraising readiness of priority projects for possible corporate support and partnerships.
  • Establish, build, maintain, and manage relationships with key SA, and international funders.
  • Secure major donations through leveraging crucially important BBBEE opportunities available.
  • Effect these duties accurately and efficiently to adhere to sound financial, administrative and policies.
  • Develop and implement an overall fundraising plan to strengthen corporate giving.
  • Interact with businesses, government, and semi-government agencies.
  • Develop creative ways of promoting the institution to corporates taking into current BBBEE policies.

Position: Artisan (Carpenter)

Campus: Auckland Park Kingsway Campus

Minimum requirements:
  • Trade Test in Carpentry
  • Grade 12 (NQF 4) or equivalent
  • Three to Five years’ appropriate experience in carpentry works.
  • A valid code 8 drivers’ license
Responsibilities:
  • Perform locksmith duties, fitting of various doors, hardware’s, closers, and other associated maintenance.
  • Perform duties in a timely, professional, and safe manner.
  • Work tasks are completed to the satisfaction of the building Supervisor and the Maintenance Manager of the department
  • Perform cabinetmaking duties in a competent manner.
  • Ensure that all defects are repaired in a timely manner and left in a safe condition.
  • Ascertain that preventative maintenance measure is completed in accordance with the university policy and procedures.
  • Undertake the preventative maintenance at the required frequency and prioritised accordingly.
  • Assist the Supervisor with the management and directing of various building and maintenance contractors
  • Ensure compliance with the Health & Safety Act in performing any tasks.

Position: General Assistant II (Plumber) 

Campus: Doornfontein Campus

Closing date: 28 February 2025

Minimum requirements:

NQF Level 4 Qualification (Matric or equivalent)
3 to 5 years’ experience in the building construction/plumbing and/or maintenance environment
Relevant experience in higher education environment
Knowledge of University rules, regulations, and policies

Responsibilities:
  • Action all maintenance callouts relating to plumbing
  • Inspect and determine method of operations to locate, install, test, repair or modify issues raised through callouts.
  • Carry out in-house repairs within established targets and monitor out-tasked contractor/s as and when required.
  • Communicate breakdowns, repairs and time frames to clients and the Manager.
  • Ensure completed jobs are signed off in accordance with SOPs requirements.
  • Assist the Supervisor or Management in compiling and maintaining a database of all plumbing repairs.
  • Perform plumbing maintenance e.g.: repairs taps, gutters, pipes, boilers, water tanks and pumps.
  • Assist in monitoring and follow up that service schedules are adhered to by planned maintenance contractors.
  • Recall or redo any service work not completed to established codes and standards.

Position: Semi Skilled: Airconditioning (X2)

Location: Auckland Park Kingsway Campus

Minimum requirements:
  • Grade 12 (NQF 4) or equivalent
  • Three (3) to four (4) years’ of experience in basic aircon and mechanical maintenance
  • Experience in working with power tools
  • Technical knowledge with a focus on work standards and customer
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act
Responsibilities:

Provides support and assistance to the aircon artisans to execute their duties throughout the university
Assists with basic (aircon, refrigeration, and mechanical) maintenance, repair, and installation under the guidance of qualified aircon artisans
Service air coils
Cleaning, inspection, and replacement of filters
Ensures proper housekeeping and cleaning of workshops, HVAC plant rooms, and associated equipment (eg. Filters)
Maintains tools, vehicles, and equipment and keeps parts and supplies in order

Position: Sous Chef

Campus: Auckland Park Bunting Road Campus

Closing date:  28 February 2025

Minimum requirements:
  • Diploma (NQF 6)  
  • Minimum of 3 years’ professional cookery experience in relation to Sous Chef within the hotel industry, preferably in the 5-star/fine dining environment
  • Teaching experience
  • Proven computer skills in Windows and MS Office
  • Industry knowledge
  • Wine knowledge
  • Kitchen management
Responsibilities:
  • Order the appropriate quantity and quality of food required and ensure proper stock control in order to achieve the required targets.
  • Ensure the daily production against the requirements.
  • Ensure that hygiene requirements in terms of HACCP are adhered to.
  • Manage the correct use of equipment and ensure maintenance thereof when necessary.
  • Providing good customer service to the relevant stakeholders.
  • Provide guidance and/or mentorship to students in the production of food.
  • Conduct assessments of students’ portfolios, behaviour and performance to facilitate the WIL process.
