There are particularly two things I really, really love about making banana bread. Firstly, I love its smell. If you want to make your house feel homely, making a banana bread is the way to go. Secondly, I love the fact that it does not require a lot of ingredients. Baking a banana bread is quite cost efficient and does not need a lot a time.
You will need the following ingredients:
3 Bananas (preferably ripe)
2 eggs
2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
Pinch of salt
Half a cup butter/margarine
1 cup brown sugar
method:
Peel the bananas. In a bowl, smash the bananas until they are smooth.
Add the eggs and mix, gently.
Add melted butter/margarine.
Add sugar, salt and baking powder. Mix all the ingredients thoroughly together.
Sift flour, and mix it with the rest of the ingredients. Make sure all the ingredients are mixed smoothly together.
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees.
Grease the pan.
Pour the batter into a loaf pan.
Leave the banana bread in the oven to bake for 45-60 minutes.
Start checking the bread from 40/45 minutes.
Use a toothpick to check if the bread has baked completely. If the toothpick comes out clean, you may remove it from the oven.
Take the bread out of the pan.
Leave the bread to cool off.
N.B Do not slice the bread until it has completely cooled off.
