South African Youtube Channels worth watching


Youtube channels are becoming a preference for more and more South Africans. South Africans are no longer depending only on mainstream media for current affairs and entertainment.People watch Youtube Channels for various reasons, some for entertainment, knowledge or fulfilment. In this article, we are going to list some of the South African Youtube channels that attract not only South Africans but the global community as well.

1 Podcast and chill with mac g

The podcast is hosted by Macgyver Mukwevho, better known as MacG, and co-hosted by Solomzi Phenduka, also known as Sol Phenduka. From observing people’s responses on various social media platforms, Podcast and Chill with MacG seems to have become an environment whereby viewers can forget about their problems for a minute, relax and laugh a bit. On the podcast, Sol, MacG and the Ghost lady casually discuss latest news (political, social and economic). They also interview well known individuals such as political leaders and celebrities. MacG’s channel is currently standing on 949 thousand subscribers.

2. Nozibele qamngana

On this channel, Nozibele Qamngana Mayaba and her husband take us through their daily life experiences and commitments in a very unique manner. Together, they attend various events, including church events and often discuss and give their opinions on some issues that people with marital relations are often faced with. Nozibele’s channel has 221 thousand subscribers at the moment.

3. Mihlali n

Mihlali Ndamase’s youtube channel is currently on 423 thousand subscribers. Mihlali started posting beauty content on Youtube when it was not yet popular amongst South Africans. Her content also consists of events and travel vlogs.

4. Hustler’s Corner SA

The host of the podcast is Sbusiso Leope, well known as DJ Sbu. This is an environment whereby leaders from different industries, from different walks of life, engage in meaningful and fruitful conversations. The main objective of the podcast is to share the kind of knowledge and information that can contribute towards the growth and motivation of young people and Africans as a whole. The channel has 203 thousand subscribers at the moment.

5. KING DAVID STUDIO

In this podcast, David Mashabela invites various guests, mostly from the entertainment industry. He often starts off by trying to familiarise himself with his guest’s upbringing and how they eventually joined the particular industry. David Mashabela has a rare manner of interviewing his guests, in a sense that he allows the conversation to unfold spontaneously. His channel currently has 86.1 thousand subscribers.

6. financial bunny

The owner of the channel is Nicolette Mashile. At the moment, the channel has 201 thousand subscribers. The main focus of the channel is financial literacy. Unfortunately, in South Africa, financial literacy is not a priority in the country’s education system. A large percentage of South Africans matriculate with no clue of basic financial knowledge, such as what tax is and how to file a tax return. In this channel, Nicolette shares her financial knowledge and experiences in a manner that is easy to understand.

7. The penuel show

The host of the podcast is Penuel Mlotshwa, also known as Penuel The Black Pen. Penuel invites different individuals and they engage in conversations about various political, social and economic matters. What makes his conversations stand out from other podcasts is the fact that he is not afraid to bring up topics that most people are often afraid to engage in. If you can listen to the videos he posts, you will notice that he is not afraid of being criticised. The Penuel Show has 81 thousand subscribers.

8. THE CONVERSATION CAPITAL

The podcast channel does not have a lot of subscribers compared to other South African Youtube channel mentioned in this article. The Conversation Capital has seven thousand and nine subscribers. However, with consistency and sound improvements, the channel has a potential of growing immensely. What is inspiring about the podcast; firstly is the fact that it is female dominated; secondly, the channel focuses on mental, socio-economic and political matters in a unique manner. In a warm and calm environment; the host, co-host and guests share their different opinions on various topics, often through a conceptualisation of various experiences that most viewers can relate to. Most South African Youtube channels owned by females, often focus on beauty and entertainment content . It is refreshing to listen to women engage in conversations about matters that affect us everyday.
